About College of Education - Abs

A Brief History of the College: The Abs College of Education was established in 2002 as a branch of Sana'a University. Dr. Sharaf Al-Hadi was the first dean, followed immediately by Dr. Muhammad Mahdi Al-Raimi. Several deans have since led the college, beginning with Dr. Ahmed Ahmed Al-Arami, followed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Hamzi, then Dr. Qaid Al-Muntasir, and finally the current dean, Dr. Muhammad Damoum. When the college opened in 2002, it had only two departments: the Department of Quran and its Sciences and the Department of English Language. In 2008, the college was affiliated with Amran University, which, along with several other colleges of education, became an independent university. The Abs College of Education was one of these. However, this arrangement was short-lived, as in 2012, the Abs College of Education became a branch of Hajjah University. During Dr. Ahmed Al-Arami's tenure, two new departments were established at the college: the Department of Mathematics, established in 2012, from which several classes have graduated, and the Department of Physics, from which the first class graduated in the 2014-2015 academic year. This year, with God's help and the diligent follow-up of the college deanship and the unlimited support of the university president, a new and specialized Department of Primary Education was opened, determined by the needs of the current stage. We hope, God willing, to expand horizontally in the future by opening another new department: Computer Education, as soon as the minimum requirements for opening such a vital department to serve the community are met.
