About the Department

Vision:
Our vision is for the Department of Geology and Mining to be a vital department adopting a distinguished academic and research program that achieves educational and research excellence at the national level by providing academic services and research activities with high professionalism through the department, faculty members, and students.

It is well known that the mineral wealth in Yemen is vast, especially in Hajjah Governorate, which possesses huge mineral resources. This includes metals such as gold, which is abundantly found in Hajjah, specifically in the Al-Hariqah area (where the first gold mine in Yemen is set to open soon), as well as industrial rocks found abundantly in Hajjah, such as marble, limestone (used in the cement industry), granite, and other industrial and construction rocks.

Therefore, establishing this department is essential to qualify and graduate geological engineers capable of working in the mining field with high efficiency, as well as to provide scientific consultations to companies operating in the mining sector in Hajjah Governorate. Since these mineral resources are still in the early stages of exploration and production, they will constitute a source of national income, creating a need for graduates to assist in the exploration and extraction of mineral wealth.

Mission:
Our mission is to graduate Mining Geology Engineers with a distinguished educational level that reflects modern technology, qualifying them to enter directly into the fields of the mining profession or to pursue their graduate studies.

Objectives:
The department aims to achieve the following:

  • The ability to develop technical and personal skills to adapt to the technological developments encountered in their professional careers in the field of mining geology.

  • The ability to perform the duties assigned to them as mining geologists with high professionalism, adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and professional ethics.

  • The ability to continue their graduate studies in the field of mining or in any other field related to their specialization.

  • The ability to employ their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills to serve their profession as mining geologists.
